Description:

Transformations of a Wellness Hotel & Residential Building in Tribeca, NYC

This project is a hybrid of residential building and wellness hotel in TriBeCa, New York City. Programmatically, the building serves as an urban treatment for travelers and city dwellers who seek to build healthy lifestyles and bodies to escape from bustling city life. A wellness center (with fitness store) focuses on offering public space that enhances mental and physical well being. The facade is a changing gradient to give a variety of spatial qualities, from the inhabitable balcony to flat facade. The interior changes from basic unit to luxury unit. For residents, apartment units offer them a comfortable home with inhabitable balcony and home jacuzzi. For hotel rooms, basic units are equipped with hot tubs for visitors to enjoy spa treatment within the room and sports in the gym during their stay. Structurally,  the design aims to build an integrated system from units to the whole building (from part to whole) with NO structure components.  All the structures have been designed to blend or peeling into different architectural components, such as lighting/ furnishing/ celling system within the unit or outside for the public space.
